ويعتمد البيرم العصري على تقنيات وأحجام مختلفة من الرولات للحصول على النتيجة المطلوبة، بدءاً من تموجات Beach Waves وصولاً إلى إضافة كثافة عند الجذور أو تحديد الخصلات. كما برزت تقنية Invisible Perm، التي تهدف إلى منح الشعر حركة وحجماً دون أن يبدو واضحاً أنه خضع لمعالجة كيميائية.
