توفي الممثل الأمريكي جيمس رانسون، الذي جسّد شخصية «زيجي سوبوتكا» في مسلسل قناة «إتش بي أو» الشهير «ذا واير»، عن عمر ناهز 46 عاماً، وفق ما أكده مكتب الطب الشرعي في مقاطعة لوس أنجليس.
وبحسب ما نقلته وسائل إعلام عالمية، ذكر مكتب الطب الشرعي في سجلاته الرسمية، أن سبب الوفاة الانتحار شنقاً داخل مستودع في إحدى مناطق لوس أنجليس يوم 19 ديسمبر الجاري.
واشتهر رانسون بدوره اللافت في الموسم الثاني من مسلسل «ذا واير» عام 2003، حيث قدّم شخصية «زيجي سوبوتكا»، وهو الدور الذي شكّل نقطة تحوّل في مسيرته الفنية ورسّخ اسمه لدى جمهور الدراما الأمريكية.
كما شارك في عدد كبير من المسلسلات البارزة، من بينها «بوكر فيس»، و«سي إس آي: مسرح الجريمة»، و«لو أند أوردر»، و«هاواي فايف – أو»، إضافة إلى أعمال حديثة مثل «سيل تيم».
ونعاه عدد من زملائه في الوسط الفني بكلمات مؤثرة، من بينهم المخرج الأمريكي سبايك لي، الذي كتب عبر حسابه على «إنستغرام»: «ارقد بسلام يا أخي العزيز جيمس رانسون»، مستذكراً تعاونهما في أكثر من عمل سينمائي.
وكان رانسون تحدّث في مقابلات سابقة بصراحة عن معاركه الشخصية مع الإدمان والاضطرابات النفسية، مشيراً إلى أن الفن والتمثيل شكّلا بالنسبة له وسيلة للتعبير والتنفيس، رغم ما كان يرافق بعض أدواره من أعباء نفسية.
The American actor James Ransone, who portrayed the character “Ziggy Sobotka” in the famous HBO series “The Wire,” passed away at the age of 46, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
According to reports from global media, the Coroner’s Office stated in its official records that the cause of death was suicide by hanging inside a warehouse in one of the areas of Los Angeles on December 19.
Ransone gained fame for his notable role in the second season of “The Wire” in 2003, where he played the character “Ziggy Sobotka,” a role that marked a turning point in his artistic career and solidified his name among American drama audiences.
He also participated in a large number of prominent series, including “The Wire,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “Law & Order,” and “Hawaii Five-0,” in addition to recent works like “Seal Team.”
Several of his colleagues in the artistic community mourned him with heartfelt words, including American director Spike Lee, who wrote on his Instagram account: “Rest in peace, my dear brother James Ransone,” recalling their collaboration in several film projects.
Ransone had spoken candidly in previous interviews about his personal battles with addiction and mental health issues, noting that art and acting served as a means of expression and release for him, despite the psychological burdens that some of his roles carried.
