لم تكن اللوحة عند الدكتورة منال الرويشد مجرد مساحة لون، بل نافذة عبرت منها إلى التعليم والثقافة والعمل المؤسسي وصناعة المبادرات. تشكلت تجربتها بين الفنانة التي تبحث عن لغتها الخاصة والأكاديمية التي تنقل المعرفة إلى أجيال جديدة والفاعلة الثقافية التي ترى أن خدمة الفن لا تقل أهمية عن ممارسته.
الاحتفائية التي أقامها أخيراً عدد من المثقفين والفنانين والأكاديميين والإعلاميين تحت عنوان «سيرة نبض» جاءت وقفة وفاء أمام رحلة صنعت حضوراً مع تحولات المشهد التشكيلي السعودي.
بدأ ارتباط الرويشد بالفن من مساحة تجمع بين الممارسة والمعرفة ثم اتسعت تجربتها عبر عملها في التعليم وتدريس الفنون والعمل الإداري والثقافي. وهي تجربة منحتها النظر إلى الفن من أكثر من زاوية، فالفنان ليس منتجاً للجمال فقط، بل شريك في بناء الوعي وصناعة الذائقة.
وفي مسيرتها محطة مهمة في العمل التشكيلي المؤسسي، إذ كانت من الأعضاء المؤسسين للجمعية السعودية للفنون التشكيلية «جسفت» قبل أن تتولى رئاسة مجلس إدارتها كأول امرأة تصل إلى هذا الموقع. وارتبط حضورها بالمبادرات والمشاريع والبرامج التي منحت الفنانين مساحة أوسع للحضور والتجربة.
كما ارتبط اسمها مبكراً بالفن الرقمي وأسهمت في تأسيس «مجموعة الفن الرقمي» وتولت رئاستها وقدمت عام 2008 معرضها الشخصي الرقمي «يأتي بلا موعد» لتضع تجربتها ضمن البدايات المبكرة لهذا الاتجاه في المملكة.
ومن المحلية امتدت التجربة إلى فضاءات عربية ودولية، فمثلت المملكة في مناسبات ومعارض وحوارات ثقافية من بينها معرض «المرأة والفنون رؤية عالمية» في الشارقة عام 2005 والأسبوع الثقافي السعودي في الدوحة عام 2010.
وحضرت الرويشد في الندوات والمحاضرات والأمسيات وشاركت في التحكيم واللجان الثقافية وكتبت في قضايا الثقافة والمجتمع وأسهمت في تنظيم المعارض وصناعة المبادرات.
وفي تجربتها تبدو المرأة والموروث أكثر حضوراً بوصفهما ذاكرة وهوية، كما تربط أعمالها بقضايا التنمية المستدامة وجودة الحياة وترى في الفن قوة ناعمة تسهم في تشكيل الوعي وتعزيز حضور المرأة وإبراز دورها في البناء والاستقرار الاجتماعي.
ويتصل بهذا اهتمامها بالنقد والجماليات، فقد شاركت بورقة علمية حول «النقد والجماليات في الفنون التشكيلية» ضمن الملتقى الأول للفنون البصرية والنقد عام 2025 كما قدمت رؤيتها حول «القصدية في تصميم غلاف الكتاب الأدبي.. الرواية أنموذجاً» مؤكدة أن علاقتها بالصورة ليست ممارسة فقط بل سؤال وتأمل وقراءة.
وخلال هذه الرحلة حظيت بتكريمات ووثقت تجربتها ضمن برنامج «تكوين» كما اختيرت شخصية للعام من جمعية الثقافة والفنون في جدة.
ولعل «سيرة نبض» لم تكن مجرد عنوان لاحتفائية عابرة بقدر ما كانت اختصاراً لمسيرة ظلت تنبض بالفن والتعليم والعطاء. فمنال الرويشد لم تعبر المشهد التشكيلي بوصفها فنانة فقط بل تركت في محطاته شيئاً منها وفي أجياله أثراً من تجربتها وفي مؤسساته جزءاً من جهدها.
وبين قاعة الدرس وفضاء اللوحة والعمل الثقافي والمؤسسي امتدت سنوات طويلة من العطاء لتؤكد أن السيرة الحقيقية للفنان لا تكتب بعدد المعارض والمناصب والتكريمات وحدها، بل بما يتركه خلفه من أثر وبمن يفتح لهم الطريق وبما يضيفه إلى ذاكرة المكان.
لهذا بدا الاحتفاء بها أقرب إلى لحظة وفاء لمسيرة لم تتوقف عند منجز شخصي بل اتسعت لتلامس الآخرين. وحين تصل التجربة إلى هذه المساحة يصبح التكريم شهادة محبة وتقدير ويصبح أجمل ما في السيرة أنها ما زالت تنبض.
The painting for Dr. Manal Al-Ruwaished was not just a space of color, but a window through which she crossed into education, culture, institutional work, and the creation of initiatives. Her experience was shaped between the artist seeking her own language, the academic transferring knowledge to new generations, and the cultural activist who sees that serving art is no less important than practicing it.
The celebration recently held by a number of intellectuals, artists, academics, and media figures under the title “The Pulse Biography” was a moment of loyalty to a journey that has made its mark alongside the transformations of the Saudi visual arts scene.
Dr. Al-Ruwaished’s connection to art began in a space that combined practice and knowledge, and her experience expanded through her work in education, teaching arts, and cultural and administrative work. This experience has given her a perspective on art from multiple angles, as the artist is not just a producer of beauty, but a partner in building awareness and shaping taste.
Her journey includes an important station in institutional visual arts work, as she was one of the founding members of the Saudi Association for Visual Arts “Jusur” before she became the first woman to chair its board of directors. Her presence has been linked to initiatives, projects, and programs that have provided artists with a broader space for presence and experience.
Her name was also early associated with digital art, as she contributed to the establishment of the “Digital Art Group” and served as its president. In 2008, she presented her digital solo exhibition “Comes Without an Appointment,” placing her experience among the early beginnings of this trend in the Kingdom.
From the local scene, her experience extended to Arab and international spaces, representing the Kingdom at events, exhibitions, and cultural dialogues, including the exhibition “Women and Arts: A Global Vision” in Sharjah in 2005 and the Saudi Cultural Week in Doha in 2010.
Dr. Al-Ruwaished has participated in seminars, lectures, and evenings, contributed to judging and cultural committees, and written on issues of culture and society, as well as contributed to organizing exhibitions and creating initiatives.
In her experience, the themes of womanhood and heritage appear more prominently as memory and identity, and she connects her works to issues of sustainable development and quality of life, seeing art as a soft power that contributes to shaping awareness, enhancing the presence of women, and highlighting their role in social construction and stability.
This is connected to her interest in criticism and aesthetics, as she participated with a paper on “Criticism and Aesthetics in Visual Arts” at the first forum for visual arts and criticism in 2025, and presented her vision on “Intentionality in Designing the Cover of a Literary Book… The Novel as a Model,” emphasizing that her relationship with the image is not just practice but a question, contemplation, and reading.
Throughout this journey, she has received honors and documented her experience within the “Taqwin” program, and was chosen as the Personality of the Year by the Culture and Arts Association in Jeddah.
Perhaps “The Pulse Biography” was not just a title for a fleeting celebration but a summary of a journey that has continued to pulse with art, education, and giving. Dr. Manal Al-Ruwaished did not traverse the visual arts scene merely as an artist; she left something of herself in its stations, an imprint of her experience in its generations, and a part of her effort in its institutions.
Between the classroom, the canvas, and cultural and institutional work, many years of giving have extended to affirm that the true biography of an artist is not written solely by the number of exhibitions, positions, and honors, but by what they leave behind as an impact, who they open the way for, and what they add to the memory of the place.
Thus, the celebration of her was closer to a moment of loyalty to a journey that did not stop at personal achievements but expanded to touch others. When the experience reaches this space, the honor becomes a testament of love and appreciation, and the most beautiful thing about the biography is that it continues to pulse.
