في لحظة خاطفة لم تكن في الحسبان، تحولت رحلة عمل عادية في أقصى الغربة إلى كابوس مأساوي صدم الوسط الفني والجمهور العربي، بعدما تلقت مطربة لبنانية شهيرة خبر وفاة زوجها ورفيق دربها إثر حادثة كهربائية مفاجئة أنهت حياته على الفور.
لم يكن المهندس الراحل نجيب عقيقي يعاني من أي أمراض، بل كان يمارس تفاصيل يومه بشكل طبيعي أثناء تواجده في دولة غانا. وفي تفاصيل الحادثة الأليمة، وقع تسرب مفاجئ للمياه في موقع تواجده، وتزامن ذلك مع وجود مصدر للتيار الكهربائي ملامس للمياه، ليصاب بصعقة كهربائية قوية وقاتلة لم تترك للأطباء أي فرصة لإنقاذه.

لم تكن المأساة في طريقة الرحيل فقط، بل في توقيتها، إذ طوت الحادثة صفحة واحدة من أهدأ وأنجح زيجات الوسط الفني. فعلى مدار نحو 20 عاماً (منذ زواجهما عام 2005)، حرص الزوج الراحل والفنانة لورا خليل على إبعاد حياتهما العائلية تماماً عن صخب الأضواء، والشائعات، وأزمات منصات التواصل الاجتماعي.
