The late artist Hayat Al-Fahd returns to the artistic forefront once again through a new documentary film that documents her illustrious career, on an occasion that carries a special commemorative character and coincides with the reopening of the Dasma Theater after the completion of its development and renovation works.
In Kuwait, the Dasma Theater is preparing to host its first artistic event on its newly renovated stage, through the screening of the documentary film (The Story of Hayat), which showcases the most significant milestones of Al-Fahd’s artistic and humanitarian life in a work that lasts about 50 minutes.
Khaled Al-Rashed, the president of the Kuwaiti Union for Artistic and Theatrical Production, revealed that the film relies on audio recordings and video clips documenting different stages of the late artist’s journey, along with testimonies from artists who lived alongside her and participated with her in important phases of her creative journey.
The work includes testimonies from several icons of Kuwaiti and Gulf drama, including Suad Abdullah, Mohammed Al-Mansour, Jassim Al-Nabhan, Mohammed Jaber, and Abdul Rahman Al-Aql, in addition to other artists who recall their memories and experiences with the late artist.
Al-Rashed explained that invitations have been sent to a select group of artists, media professionals, intellectuals, and those interested in the artistic field, while Hayat Al-Fahd’s family will attend the event, led by her daughter Susan and several family members and close friends.
The screening is scheduled to take place in the evening, followed by a press seminar discussing the most significant milestones of Al-Fahd’s life, along with a discussion of impressions about the documentary film and the documentary and humanitarian aspects it includes. The seminar will also feature the participation of artists Abdul Rahman Al-Aql and Jassim Al-Nabhan, where the dialogue will touch on the importance of rehabilitating the Dasma Theater and its role in supporting the theatrical and cultural movement in Kuwait.
The choice of (The Story of Hayat) to be the first work presented on the stage after its renovation carries a special symbolic significance, especially since the rehabilitation of this cultural edifice was one of the wishes expressed by Hayat Al-Fahd during her lifetime.
The Dasma Theater has undergone development works that lasted about 90 days, which included updating its facilities and preparing it to host artistic performances and events according to modern standards, allowing it to resume its role as one of the most prominent theatrical and cultural landmarks in Kuwait.
The organizers of the event confirm that the theater’s opening with the film is not limited to honoring a great artist, but represents a message of loyalty to a name that has left a lasting mark in the history of Gulf drama, and symbolically embodies one of the wishes that were associated with her before her passing.
