The Talad Cultural Club, in partnership with the Madar Cultural Club, launched the “Watan Tour” initiative from the Al-Ahsa Governorate, as part of a cultural project targeting 12 cities and cultural landmarks in the Kingdom in its first edition, aiming to explore the national heritage and document the historical landmarks and human and artistic experiences that reflect the diversity of Saudi identity.
Al-Ahsa was chosen as the first stop for the initiative due to its rich historical and civilizational heritage and the diversity of its social and artistic legacy. The tour included several heritage sites, cultural institutions, and local experiences to capture the relationship between people and places and preserve its details through images and words.
The tour included a visit to the traditional Al-Sayed coffee, learning about the production of Al-Ahsa bread with Uncle Abu Fahd Al-Rabea, in addition to Ain Al-Khudood, the historical Ibrahim Palace, Dar Basma, the experience of visual artist Taghreed Al-Baqshi, the Diwaniyah of Consultant Abdulaziz Al-Omair, and the Nakhlah Center under the supervision of Engineer Abdullah Al-Shayeb, as well as the Noura Al-Mousa Cultural House.
The initiative aims to document both tangible and intangible heritage, including historical landmarks, crafts, customs, traditions, and creative experiences, and to produce cultural content that contributes to preserving and promoting local memory.
The initiative is supervised by the founders of the Talad Cultural Club, Dr. Amal Hamdan Al-Sharif and Aqeel Al-Anzi, in collaboration with the Madar Cultural Club, chaired by Jasem Al-Zaid, with the participation of Haneen Abu Salama, Talad’s ambassador in Dammam, while photographers Mujtaba Al-Hajji and Hussein Al-Basha were responsible for the visual documentation of the tour stops.
The “Watan Tour” comes as part of a cultural approach that links field visits with knowledge documentation, allowing for the exploration of local community experiences and their heritage, with plans to continue its tours in several cities and cultural landmarks across the Kingdom.
