ويمثّل المبتعث في جامعة أم القرى إبراهيم سانوغو، القادم من كوت ديفوار، نموذجاً لهذه التجربة؛ إذ ينظّم يومه بين حضور المحاضرات وإنجاز المهمات الدراسية خلال ساعات الصيام، مع الحرص على توزيع جهده بما يضمن استمرار أدائه الأكاديمي دون إخلال بالتزاماته الدينية.
ومع حلول المساء، تتبدّل ملامح اليوم، إذ يتحوّل الإفطار إلى محطة اجتماعية وروحية تتجلى فيها مظاهر التآلف والتكافل بين المقيمين والزوار من مختلف الجنسيات، في مشهد يعكس عالمية المكان ووحدة الشعور.
ويؤكد سانوغو أن رمضان في بلده يتسم بطابع أسري، إذ تجتمع العائلة والجيران حول موائد تقليدية تعبّر عن الهوية المحلية، بينما تمتاز الأجواء في مكة باتساعها وتنوّعها الثقافي، وارتباط لياليها بالعبادة والبرامج الدينية وحضور الصلوات في المسجد الحرام، ما يمنح التجربة بُعداً روحياً أعمق.
وتسهم هذه المعايشة في تعزيز قيم التعايش والانفتاح لدى المبتعثين، وتثري تجربتهم الإنسانية إلى جانب مسيرتهم العلمية.
The life of international students residing in Mecca during the month of Ramadan is shaped by a daily rhythm that combines academic commitment with the uniqueness of living in a city distinguished by its religious significance. The demands of study intertwine with the spiritual and social atmosphere of this holy month.
One example of this experience is Ibrahim Sanogo, an international student at Umm Al-Qura University, who comes from Côte d’Ivoire. He organizes his day between attending lectures and completing academic tasks during fasting hours, while ensuring that he distributes his efforts in a way that maintains his academic performance without compromising his religious obligations.
As evening approaches, the character of the day changes; iftar becomes a social and spiritual gathering that showcases the solidarity and mutual support among residents and visitors from various nationalities, reflecting the universality of the place and a sense of unity.
Sanogo emphasizes that Ramadan in his country has a family-oriented character, where family and neighbors gather around traditional tables that express local identity. In contrast, the atmosphere in Mecca is characterized by its vastness and cultural diversity, with its nights linked to worship, religious programs, and attendance at prayers in the Grand Mosque, which adds a deeper spiritual dimension to the experience.
This shared experience contributes to enhancing values of coexistence and openness among international students, enriching their human experience alongside their academic journey.
