أوضح وزير الإعلام سلمان بن يوسف الدوسري، أنه بنهاية 2025 تطوي المملكة فصلاً آخر من فصول الطموح والنجاحات، جسّدت فيه معاني الاستقرار، وتعاظمت فيه منجزات الوطن. عامٌ رسّخ الأمن، وعزّز النمو، وفتح آفاقاً أوسع للاستثمار، واستضافت فيه المملكة أبرز الأحداث العالمية والمؤتمرات الكبرى، وبدايةً لعام جديد من الخير والرخاء والازدهار؛ إذ أقرّ مجلس الوزراء، برئاسة ولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان، الميزانية العامة للدولة للعام المالي 2026، ووجّهت القيادة بالإنفاق الإستراتيجي على البرامج والمشاريع التنموية والاجتماعية؛ بما يضع مصلحة المواطنين وخدمتهم في صدارة الأولويات.
جاء ذلك خلال حديث وزير الإعلام في المؤتمر الصحفي الحكومي الـ30 الذي عُقد بالقدية، مسلّطاً الضوء على أبرز المستجدات الوطنية والمنجزات الحكومية، بمشاركة عضو مجلس الإدارة العضو المنتدب لشركة القدية للاستثمار عبدالله بن ناصر الداود، للحديث عن تطورات مشروع مدينة القدية، والإعلان عن تفاصيل التجارب في «Six Flags».
وقال وزير الإعلام: «في منجز وطني يعكس تنوّع الاقتصاد السعودي ونجاح جهود المملكة في تعزيز الاستدامة، بلغت مساهمة الأنشطة غير النفطية في الناتج المحلي الإجمالي الحقيقي 55.4% في الربع الثالث من 2025، مقارنة بـ45.9% في الربع الثالث من 2016».
وأضاف: «تأكيداً لنهج الدولة في توفير مسكن مستدام يحقق تطلعات الأسر السعودية، وانطلاقاً من خط الأساس البالغ 47% في 2016، بلغت نسبة تملّك الأسر السعودية منازل 65.4% في نهاية 2024»، مهنئاً من شملتهم القرعة الإلكترونية من المؤهلين للحصول على أرض سكنية في مدينة الرياض بأسعار لا تتجاوز 1500 ريال للمتر، ضمن القرارات التي وجّه بها ولي العهد لإقرار التوازن العقاري، في نموذج حلّ سعودي مبتكر وشامل ومتوازن.
ارتفاع عمر الإنسان إلى 79.7 عام
وإيماناً بأن الصحة أساس جودة حياة الفرد والمجتمع، أشار إلى ارتفاع متوسط عمر الإنسان في المملكة إلى 79.7 عام، مقارنة بـ74 عاماً في 2016.
ونتيجةً للحلول والتسهيلات المبتكرة التي قدّمتها المملكة لتطوير بيئة الأعمال التجارية وتقديم تجربة متميزة للمستفيدين، تنامت أنشطة صناعة الألعاب الإلكترونية، وتقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي، والأمن السيبراني، بنسب راوحت بين 23% و35% خلال الربع الرابع من 2025، مقارنة بالربع المماثل من العام الماضي.
السعودية الأولى عالمياً في الذكاء الاصطناعي
وفي فضاء الذكاء الاصطناعي، نوّه وزير الإعلام بمنجزات المملكة في هذا الشأن، إذ احتلّت المركز الأول عالميّاً في عدد الجوائز التي نالتها في مسابقة الذكاء الاصطناعي العالمية للشباب، بواقع 26 جائزة، وهي أكبر دولة في تاريخ المسابقة تحقق هذا العدد، كما حققت المملكة قفزة نوعية من المرتبة الـ49 في 2020 إلى المركز الثاني عالميّاً في الحكومة الرقمية، وفقاً للبنك الدولي في 2025.
وتابع قائلاً: في سبيل البذل والعطاء، الذي يُعد جزءاً فطريّاً من ملامح هذا الوطن وأهله، حققت حملة ولي العهد للتبرع بالدم زيادة بلغت أربعة أضعاف في عدد المتبرعين منذ انطلاقها، وشهد القطاع غير الربحي قفزات نوعية، إذ تضاعف عدد المنظمات غير الربحية من 1,700 منظمة في 2017 إلى أكثر من 7,000 منظمة في 2025، بنسبة نمو بلغت 313%.
7 قرارات لتوطين 311 مهنة
وأكد الوزير أن تمكين الشباب والكوادر الوطنية كان في صدارة الاهتمام، فدخلت 7 قرارات لتوطين 311 مهنة حيّز التنفيذ في بداية 2025؛ ما أسهم في زيادة أعداد السعوديين في القطاعات المستهدفة.
وفي قطاع النقل والخدمات اللوجستية، بيّن أن قطار الرياض سجّل أعلى درجات الانضباط عالميّاً بنسبة التزام بلغت 99.8% لعام 2025، واستقبل 120 مليون راكب منذ بدء تشغيله حتى أكتوبر 2025، كما تستهدف المملكة في 2026 تنفيذ المرحلة الأولى من المسار السابع الجديد من قطار الرياض، الممتد من مشروع بوابة الدرعية شمالاً حتى مشروع القدية جنوب غرب الرياض.
ودعماً لقوة الجواز السعودي، أفاد أنه أُتيح للمواطنين في 2025 الدخول إلى 31 دولة دون تأشيرة أو بتسهيلات خاصة.
400 جائزة عالمية
وفي مجال التعليم، نوّه وزير الإعلام بما حققه الطلاب والطالبات من أكثر من 400 جائزة عالمية، ومراكز متقدمة في العديد من المحافل والمسابقات الدولية خلال هذا العام.
وفي ميادين الرياضة التنافسية، قال: «استضافت المملكة ونظّمت أكثر من 15 فعالية رياضية عالمية في 2025، وتستهدف استضافة أكثر من 13 فعالية في 2026، إلى جانب اكتشاف المواهب الرياضية عبر اختبار وتقييم 130 ألف طفل خلال العام القادم».
وفي إنجاز يعكس حرص المملكة على ثروتها البيئية وتنوعها الأحيائي، جرى توثيق قرابة 85 ألف طائر بحري، وإعادة توطين ما يقارب 1600 كائن فطري مهدد بالانقراض.
وفي قطاع الطاقة، أكد وزير الإعلام أن المملكة تواصل جهودها في مجال الاستكشاف، إذ اكتُشف 13 حقلاً و12 مكمناً جديداً من الغاز والبترول خلال 2025.
إطلاق مدرسة للموهوبين الإعلاميين
وأعلن أن وزارة الإعلام تعمل بالشراكة مع وزارة التعليم على إطلاق مشروع «مدرسة الموهوبين الإعلاميين» لاكتشاف ورعاية المواهب من مراحل مبكرة، ليكون امتداداً لبرنامج ابتعاث الإعلام، ومرحلة تأسيسية لبناء جيل إعلامي يروي قصص إنجازات وطنه بكفاءة واقتدار.
وتجسيداً لقيم الضيافة والانفتاح الثقافي لدى السعوديين، أشار إلى اختتام الوزارة، بالتعاون مع هيئة الترفيه، النسخة الثانية من مبادرة «انسجام عالمي» ضمن برنامج جودة الحياة، إذ جمعت الفعاليات 14 ثقافة عالمية، واستقطبت أكثر من 3.5 مليون زائر، بمشاركة أكثر من 5,000 إعلامي، و3,000 منظم ومنظمة سعودية، قُدِّم خلالها أكثر من 2,200 عرض استعراضي، شارك فيه أكثر من 130 فناناً عالميّاً.
وأضاف وزير الإعلام: «بينما نحتفي اليوم بتدشين مدينة القدية الترفيهية، يسرّني أن أعلن عن استضافة مدينة القدية ملتقى صناع التأثير «إمباك 2026»، والعمل مع الشركاء في القدية لإطلاق مشروع «بيت إمباك في القدية»، ليكون منصة عالمية تجمع المؤثرين من مختلف دول العالم، وتخلق بيئة إبداعية ملهمة تفتح الآفاق لصناعة تأثير عابر للحدود».
وأشار إلى أن عدد مرات وصول كلمة «القدية» للجمهور في النصف الأول من هذا العام بلغ قرابة 19 مليار وصول، وفي النصف الثاني أكثر من 27 مليار وصول حول العالم، بما يعكس التصاعد الهائل في حجم الاهتمام المحلي والعالمي بالمشروع، ويُرسّخ حضوره ضمن أبرز المشاريع السعودية في قطاع الترفيه.
وأكد أن جبال طويق بصخورها كانت عبر القرون شاهدة على مرور القوافل والأحداث، واليوم تتحول من خلفية صامتة للتاريخ إلى مسرح حيّ للمستقبل الجديد، فنحن في المملكة لا نبدأ من حيث انتهى الآخرون، بل من حيث يحلم الآخرون.
قرارات صارمة ضد مؤجِّجي الرأي العام
وفي معرض رد وزير الإعلام على سؤال صحفي بشأن الإجراءات التي اتخذتها هيئة تنظيم الإعلام حيال منشورات مؤجِّجة للرأي العام، أكد أن القوانين والأنظمة المعمول بها في المملكة تكفل حرية التعبير بوصفها حقّاً أصيلاً، مع التشديد -في الوقت ذاته- على التمييز الواضح بين الرأي المسؤول والنقد البنّاء، وبين المحتوى الذي يهدف إلى التظليل أو تأجيج الرأي العام.
وأوضح أن الدور الرقابي لهيئة تنظيم الإعلام، والرقابة على جودة المحتوى الإعلامي، دفعا الهيئة إلى استشعار خطورة ما ارتكبه بعض الأشخاص من مخالفات جسيمة، تمثّلت في بث منشورات مؤججة شكّلت تهديداً لأمن وسلامة المجتمع، الأمر الذي استدعى اتخاذ قرارات صارمة وإجراءات نظامية بحق هؤلاء الأشخاص.
وبيّن وزير الإعلام أن هذه الإجراءات لا تستهدف الآراء أو النقد البنّاء، بقدر ما تأتي في إطار تطبيق الأنظمة بحق أي ممارسات تتجاوز حدود المسؤولية الإعلامية، وتمس السلم المجتمعي، مؤكداً أنه لا يمكن التسامح مطلقاً مع كل من يحاول استخدام حرية التعبير ذريعةً لخلق الفوضى في الفضاء الإعلامي أو الإلكتروني، أو توظيف خطاب شعبوي زائف بهدف زيادة أعداد المتابعين.
حفظ حقوق المسافرين المتضررين
وفي ما يتعلق بما حدث للمسافرين خلال هذا الأسبوع، أكد وزير الإعلام، تعليقاً على ذلك، أن ما حدث يُعد أمراً مؤسفاً، مشيراً إلى أن إلغاء الرحلات أو تأخيرها يسبب -بلا شك- إرباكاً لجداول المسافرين والتزاماتهم، وهو أمر لا يقبله الجميع.
وأوضح أنه -استناداً إلى البيانات الصادرة من مطار الملك خالد الدولي- فإن الإشكالية التي وقعت جاءت نتيجة تزامن عدد من الأسباب والعوامل التشغيلية، ما ترتب عليه تأثر جداول بعض الرحلات، التي بلغت نحو 200 رحلة تقريباً، لافتاً إلى أن البيان الصادر عن المطار أكد الالتزام التام بلائحة حماية حقوق المسافرين الصادرة من الهيئة العامة للطيران المدني، بما يضمن حفظ حقوق المسافرين المتضررين.
وبيّن وزير الإعلام أن أي إطار تشغيلي في العالم قد يشهد بعض التحديات، سواء كانت تقنية أو تشغيلية، مؤكداً في الوقت ذاته أن جميع الجهات في الدولة على أتم الاستعداد للتعامل مع أي حدث طارئ أو خلل من خلال خطط طوارئ معدّة مسبقاً، واستعدادات دائمة لمواجهة مثل هذه الظروف.
وأشار إلى أن ما حدث يُعد مثالاً حيّاً على حرية التعبير في المملكة، إذ شهدت الواقعة العديد من الانتقادات من مسافرين تضرروا من تأخير رحلاتهم، وهو أمر مفهوم، ويتم تفهّم مشاعر الاستياء المصاحبة له، مؤكداً في المقابل أن الدولة تفرّق بوضوح بين النقد البنّاء المشروع، وبين التحريض الذي يستوجب المساءلة والعقوبة وفق الأنظمة.
استعدادات لمواجهة أمطار جدة
وتعليقاً على الحالة المطرية التي شهدتها مدينة جدة أخيراً، أوضح أن الحالة المطرية التي شهدتها جدة كانت حالة استثنائية، إذ بلغت كمية الأمطار في بعض المواقع نحو 135 ملليمتراً، وهو معدل نادر الحدوث، مشيراً إلى أن تصميم البنية التحتية في مختلف دول العالم، بما في ذلك شبكات تصريف مياه الأمطار، يعتمد على دراسات دقيقة لمنسوب الأمطار الاعتيادية والمتكررة، مؤكداً أنه لا توجد شبكة تصريف تُبنى على أساس الحالات المطرية النادرة.
وبيّن أنه رغم المنسوب العالي للأمطار، باشرت فرق أمانة جدة والأجهزة الميدانية أعمالها فوراً، بمشاركة أكثر من 7,000 فرد، مشيراً إلى أنه بفضل هذه الاستعدادات والتنسيق بين الجهات المعنية، عادت الحياة إلى وضعها الطبيعي في وقت وجيز.
ترجمة رؤية ولي العهد وأفكاره الطموحة
من جانبه أكد العضو المنتدب لشركة القدية للاستثمار عبدالله بن ناصر الداود، أن مشروع مدينة القدية حظي منذ اللحظة التاريخية التي تفضّل فيها خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز بتدشينه برعايته الكريمة، باهتمامٍ ودعمٍ متواصلين من ولي العهد رئيس مجلس إدارة شركة القدية الأمير محمد بن سلمان، إيماناً من ولي العهد بالمشاريع النوعية القادرة على إحداث أثرٍ إيجابي في حياة الناس، وخلق اقتصادات جديدة ومستدامة.
وأوضح الداود أن أعمال المشروع انطلقت مرتكزة على ترجمة رؤية ولي العهد وأفكاره الطموحة إلى واقعٍ ملموس، ليغدو مشروع مدينة القدية وجهةً عالمية رائدة في مجالات الترفيه والرياضة والثقافة، تسهم في تنويع الاقتصاد الوطني وتعزيز جودة الحياة، بما ينسجم مع مستهدفات رؤية المملكة 2030.
وبيّن أن مشروع القدية ينبثق من صميم رؤية المملكة 2030، بوصفه أحد مشاريعها المحورية الهادفة إلى إحداث تحوّل نوعي في نمط الحياة وتعزيز جودة المعيشة، مشيراً إلى أن المشروع يتبنّى مفهوماً متكاملاً تندمج فيه قطاعات الترفيه والرياضة والثقافة والسياحة في إطار متجانس، ليشكّل نموذجاً حضرياً حديثاً، صُمّم للارتقاء بجودة الحياة، وإحداث فارق نوعي في استضافة الفعاليات الكبرى في المجالات الرياضية والثقافية والترفيهية، مستنداً إلى بنية تحتية عالية المستوى.
ممكّنات إستراتيجية مهمة
وقال الداود: «المشروع يستند إلى ممكّنات إستراتيجية مهمة، أبرزها كونه أحد الاستثمارات الإستراتيجية لصندوق الاستثمارات العامة، الأمر الذي أسهم في جذب شركاء عالميين وتسريع وتيرة اتخاذ القرار، بما يعزز كفاءة التنفيذ، ويواكب طموحات المشروع».
وأوضح أن مدينة القدية تُعد نموذجاً حضريّاً فريداً من نوعه، إذ تجمع أكثر من 70 أصلاً متنوعاً في موقع واحد، تشمل إستاد الأمير محمد بن سلمان، ومجمع التنس الوطني، ومركز الفنون الأدائية، ومنطقة الألعاب والرياضات الإلكترونية، وحلبات السرعة، وعالم مرسيدس للأداء، وأندية الغولف، ومتنزه دراغون بول، ومتنزه أكواريبيا المائي، ومدينة Six Flags، واستوديوهات صنّاع اللعب، إلى جانب أصول ومشاريع أخرى متعددة، لتبرز بهذه المنظومة المتكاملة بوصفها عاصمة عالمية جديدة للترفيه والرياضة والثقافة.
«Six Flags» فريدة لكسر الأرقام العالمية
وأعلن الداود خلال المؤتمر، أنه في 31 من ديسمبر الجاري، ستفتتح مدينة القدية أول أصولها الترفيهية (Six Flags) لتشكّل إضافة نوعية مميزة لقطاع الترفيه، ونقلة تحوّلية في مسيرة المشروع.
وأشار إلى أن «Six Flags» يمنح محبّي تحطيم الأرقام القياسية فرصة فريدة لكسر الأرقام العالمية من خلال خمسة ألعاب رئيسية، تتصدرها أفعوانية الصقر، التي تسجّل إنجازاً غير مسبوق بتحطيم ثلاثة أرقام قياسية عالمية، بوصفها أطول، وأسرع، وأعلى أفعوانية في العالم.
وأكد أن «Six Flags» مدينة القدية تقدّم باقة من التجارب الترفيهية المدعومة بتقنيات مبتكرة تُطرح للمرة الأولى على مستوى المنطقة، بما يعزز مكانة المشروع وجهةً عالمية للترفيه النوعي.
وبيّن أن هذا الافتتاح -بإذن الله- يُعد باكورة لسلسلة من الافتتاحات المتتالية لما يقارب 70 أصلاً، على أن يُعلن عنها تباعاً ضمن مسار التشغيل التدريجي لمدينة القدية، عبر إطلاق أصول جديدة بشكل متتابع.
وفي ما يتعلق بآخر تطورات المشروع، بيّن العضو المنتدب لشركة القدية للاستثمار أنه تم الانتهاء الكامل من متنزه «Six Flags»، إلى جانب إنجاز أكثر من 95% من متنزه أكواريبيا المائي، فيما بدأت أعمال البناء في مجموعة أخرى من الأصول، تشمل استاد الأمير محمد بن سلمان، ومركز الفنون الأدائية، ومضمار السرعة، وعالم مرسيدس للأداء، وأندية الغولف، ومنطقة الألعاب والرياضات الإلكترونية.
10,000 زائر يومياً
وأشار إلى أن أعمال التطوير تتواصل بالتوازي مع تقدّم أعمال البناء في أكثر من 20 فندقاً من المستهدف افتتاحها خلال الفترة القادمة.
وفي ما يخص البنية التحتية، أفاد بأنه جرى الانتهاء من المرحلة الأولى لأعمال الطرق والكهرباء والمياه والاتصالات وخدمات الطوارئ، فيما انطلقت المرحلة الثانية لتطوير شبكة الطرق الداخلية للمدينة، التي يتجاوز طولها 100 كيلومتر عند اكتمالها، إلى جانب البدء في تنفيذ محطات الكهرباء لتشمل 13 محطة مركزية وفرعية، إضافة إلى توسعة منظومة إنتاج مياه الشرب.
وأكد العضو المنتدب لشركة القدية للاستثمار، في معرض إجابته على أسئلة الصحفيين، أن متنزه القدية صُمّم لاستقبال ما يقارب 10,000 زائر يوميّاً، مع توقعات بتجاوز عدد الزوار مليوني زائر خلال العام الأول من التشغيل.
استقبال العائلات السعودية
وبين أن التركيز في المرحلة الأولى سيكون على استقبال العائلات السعودية والجمهور المحلي، إلى جانب الترحيب بالسياح من داخل المملكة وخارجها، في ظل حالة الترقب والتشوق الكبيرة من سكان مدينة الرياض والمناطق المجاورة، مشيراً إلى أن العام القادم سيشهد افتتاح متنزه مائي جديد، يُشكّل إضافة نوعية لتجربة الزوار من المملكة وخارجها.
وفي جانب التوظيف، أوضح أن خلق فرص العمل يعد أحد الأهداف الرئيسية لمشروع القدية، مشيراً إلى أن أول أصل يُفْتَتَح (Six Flags) يعمل فيه أكثر من 1200 موظف، تزيد نسبة السعوديين منهم على 60%، في حين ينتمي ما يقارب 39% من الموظفين إلى أكثر من 41 دولة، مما يسهم في إثراء التجربة الثقافية للمتنزه بصفته وجهة عالمية، مؤكداً في الوقت نفسه أن السعوديين العاملين في المشروع تلقوا تدريبهم في معاهد متخصصة داخل المملكة وخارجها، بإشراف شركاء عالميين في قطاع الترفيه.
The Minister of Media, Salman bin Yusuf Al-Dosari, clarified that by the end of 2025, the Kingdom will close another chapter in its ambition and successes, embodying the meanings of stability and magnifying the achievements of the nation. It is a year that solidified security, enhanced growth, and opened wider horizons for investment, during which the Kingdom hosted the most prominent global events and major conferences, marking the beginning of a new year of goodness, prosperity, and flourishing; as the Council of Ministers, chaired by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, approved the general budget for the fiscal year 2026, and the leadership directed strategic spending on developmental and social programs and projects; placing the interests of citizens and their service at the forefront of priorities.
This came during the Minister of Media’s remarks at the 30th government press conference held in Qiddiya, highlighting the most significant national developments and government achievements, with the participation of Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Dawood, a board member and managing director of Qiddiya Investment Company, discussing the developments of the Qiddiya project and announcing details of the experiences at “Six Flags”.
The Minister of Media said: “In a national achievement that reflects the diversity of the Saudi economy and the success of the Kingdom’s efforts in enhancing sustainability, the contribution of non-oil activities to the real GDP reached 55.4% in the third quarter of 2025, compared to 45.9% in the third quarter of 2016.”
He added: “In confirmation of the state’s approach to providing sustainable housing that meets the aspirations of Saudi families, and starting from a baseline of 47% in 2016, the percentage of Saudi families owning homes reached 65.4% by the end of 2024,” congratulating those who were selected in the electronic lottery for eligible individuals to obtain residential land in Riyadh at prices not exceeding 1500 riyals per square meter, as part of the decisions directed by the Crown Prince to establish real estate balance, in an innovative, comprehensive, and balanced Saudi solution.
Life Expectancy Rises to 79.7 Years
Believing that health is the foundation of the quality of life for individuals and society, he pointed out that the average life expectancy in the Kingdom has risen to 79.7 years, compared to 74 years in 2016.
As a result of the innovative solutions and facilities provided by the Kingdom to develop the business environment and offer an exceptional experience for beneficiaries, activities in the electronic gaming industry, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity have grown by rates ranging from 23% to 35% during the fourth quarter of 2025, compared to the same quarter of the previous year.
Saudi Arabia Ranks First Globally in Artificial Intelligence
In the realm of artificial intelligence, the Minister of Media highlighted the Kingdom’s achievements in this regard, as it ranked first globally in the number of awards received in the Global Youth Artificial Intelligence Competition, with 26 awards, making it the largest country in the history of the competition to achieve this number. The Kingdom also made a qualitative leap from 49th place in 2020 to second place globally in digital government, according to the World Bank in 2025.
He continued: In the spirit of giving and generosity, which is an inherent part of the characteristics of this nation and its people, the Crown Prince’s blood donation campaign has achieved a fourfold increase in the number of donors since its launch, and the non-profit sector has seen qualitative leaps, as the number of non-profit organizations doubled from 1,700 organizations in 2017 to over 7,000 organizations in 2025, with a growth rate of 313%.
7 Decisions to Localize 311 Professions
The minister confirmed that empowering youth and national cadres has been a top priority, as 7 decisions to localize 311 professions came into effect at the beginning of 2025; contributing to an increase in the number of Saudis in the targeted sectors.
In the transportation and logistics sector, he indicated that the Riyadh Metro recorded the highest levels of discipline globally with a compliance rate of 99.8% for 2025, having welcomed 120 million passengers since its launch until October 2025. The Kingdom also aims to implement the first phase of the new seventh line of the Riyadh Metro in 2026, extending from the Diriyah Gate project in the north to the Qiddiya project in the southwest of Riyadh.
In support of the strength of the Saudi passport, he stated that citizens in 2025 were allowed to enter 31 countries without a visa or with special facilitation.
400 Global Awards
In the field of education, the Minister of Media noted the achievements of students who have won over 400 global awards and advanced positions in many international forums and competitions this year.
In the realm of competitive sports, he said: “The Kingdom hosted and organized more than 15 global sports events in 2025, aiming to host more than 13 events in 2026, in addition to discovering sports talents by testing and evaluating 130,000 children during the coming year.”
In an achievement that reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to its environmental wealth and biodiversity, nearly 85,000 seabirds were documented, and approximately 1,600 endangered species were reintroduced.
In the energy sector, the Minister of Media confirmed that the Kingdom continues its exploration efforts, having discovered 13 new fields and 12 new reservoirs of gas and oil during 2025.
Launch of a School for Gifted Media Professionals
He announced that the Ministry of Media is working in partnership with the Ministry of Education to launch the “School for Gifted Media Professionals” project to discover and nurture talents from early stages, as an extension of the media scholarship program and a foundational phase for building a media generation that tells the stories of its nation’s achievements with efficiency and competence.
In embodying the values of hospitality and cultural openness among Saudis, he pointed out that the ministry, in collaboration with the Entertainment Authority, concluded the second edition of the “Global Harmony” initiative under the Quality of Life Program, which brought together 14 global cultures and attracted more than 3.5 million visitors, with the participation of over 5,000 media professionals and 3,000 Saudi organizers, during which more than 2,200 performances were presented, featuring over 130 international artists.
The Minister of Media added: “As we celebrate today the launch of the Qiddiya entertainment city, I am pleased to announce that Qiddiya will host the Impact Makers Forum ‘Impact 2026’, and work with partners in Qiddiya to launch the ‘Impact House in Qiddiya’, to be a global platform that brings together influencers from different countries, creating an inspiring creative environment that opens horizons for cross-border impact.”
He noted that the number of times the word “Qiddiya” reached the public in the first half of this year was nearly 19 billion, and in the second half, it exceeded 27 billion globally, reflecting the immense increase in local and global interest in the project and solidifying its presence among the most prominent Saudi projects in the entertainment sector.
He affirmed that the Tuwaiq Mountains, with their rocks, have witnessed through the centuries the passage of caravans and events, and today they are transforming from a silent backdrop of history to a vibrant stage for the new future, as we in the Kingdom do not start from where others have ended, but from where others dream.
Strict Decisions Against Public Opinion Provokers
In response to a journalist’s question regarding the measures taken by the Media Regulation Authority concerning posts that provoke public opinion, the Minister of Media confirmed that the laws and regulations in force in the Kingdom guarantee freedom of expression as an inherent right, while emphasizing – at the same time – the clear distinction between responsible opinion and constructive criticism, and between content aimed at misleading or inciting public opinion.
He explained that the regulatory role of the Media Regulation Authority and the oversight of the quality of media content prompted the authority to sense the seriousness of what some individuals have committed in grave violations, manifested in broadcasting provocative posts that posed a threat to the security and safety of society, which necessitated taking strict decisions and legal actions against these individuals.
The Minister of Media clarified that these measures do not target opinions or constructive criticism, but rather come within the framework of applying regulations against any practices that exceed the limits of media responsibility and affect societal peace, affirming that there can be no tolerance whatsoever with anyone who attempts to use freedom of expression as a pretext to create chaos in the media or electronic space, or to employ false populist rhetoric to increase follower numbers.
Protecting the Rights of Affected Travelers
Regarding what happened to travelers during this week, the Minister of Media, commenting on that, stated that what occurred is indeed unfortunate, pointing out that the cancellation or delay of flights undoubtedly causes confusion to travelers’ schedules and commitments, which is something that everyone cannot accept.
He explained that – based on data issued by King Khalid International Airport – the issue that occurred was the result of the coincidence of several operational causes and factors, which led to the impact on the schedules of some flights, which reached about 200 flights approximately, noting that the statement issued by the airport confirmed complete adherence to the Passenger Rights Protection Regulation issued by the General Authority of Civil Aviation, ensuring the preservation of the rights of affected travelers.
The Minister of Media indicated that any operational framework in the world may face some challenges, whether technical or operational, while affirming at the same time that all entities in the state are fully prepared to deal with any emergency event or malfunction through pre-prepared emergency plans and ongoing readiness to face such circumstances.
He pointed out that what happened is a living example of freedom of expression in the Kingdom, as the incident witnessed many criticisms from travelers who were affected by the delays of their flights, which is understandable, and the accompanying feelings of dissatisfaction are acknowledged, while affirming that the state clearly distinguishes between legitimate constructive criticism and incitement that warrants accountability and punishment according to the regulations.
Preparations to Face Rain in Jeddah
Commenting on the rainy conditions recently witnessed in the city of Jeddah, he clarified that the rainy situation in Jeddah was exceptional, as the amount of rain in some locations reached about 135 millimeters, which is a rare occurrence, pointing out that the design of infrastructure in various countries, including rainwater drainage networks, relies on accurate studies of normal and recurring rainfall levels, affirming that no drainage network is built based on rare rainfall events.
He explained that despite the high level of rainfall, the teams of the Jeddah Municipality and field agencies immediately began their work, with the participation of more than 7,000 individuals, noting that thanks to these preparations and coordination between the relevant authorities, life returned to normal in a short time.
Translating the Crown Prince’s Vision and Ambitious Ideas
For his part, Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Dawood, managing director of Qiddiya Investment Company, confirmed that the Qiddiya project has received continuous attention and support from the Crown Prince, Chairman of the Qiddiya Company, Prince Mohammed bin Salman, since the historic moment when the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, inaugurated it under his generous patronage, believing in the qualitative projects capable of making a positive impact on people’s lives and creating new and sustainable economies.
Al-Dawood explained that the project’s work began focusing on translating the Crown Prince’s vision and ambitious ideas into tangible reality, making the Qiddiya project a leading global destination in the fields of entertainment, sports, and culture, contributing to diversifying the national economy and enhancing the quality of life, in line with the objectives of Vision 2030.
He indicated that the Qiddiya project stems from the core of Vision 2030, as one of its pivotal projects aimed at bringing about a qualitative transformation in lifestyle and enhancing the quality of living, noting that the project adopts a comprehensive concept that integrates the sectors of entertainment, sports, culture, and tourism within a cohesive framework, to form a modern urban model designed to elevate the quality of life and make a qualitative difference in hosting major events in the fields of sports, culture, and entertainment, relying on high-level infrastructure.
Important Strategic Enablers
Al-Dawood said: “The project is based on important strategic enablers, most notably being one of the strategic investments of the Public Investment Fund, which has contributed to attracting global partners and accelerating the decision-making process, enhancing execution efficiency, and aligning with the project’s ambitions.”
He explained that Qiddiya is a unique urban model, bringing together more than 70 diverse assets in one location, including the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, the National Tennis Complex, the Performing Arts Center, the area for electronic games and sports, speed tracks, the Mercedes Performance World, golf clubs, the Dragon Ball Park, the Aquariba Water Park, the Six Flags city, and game maker studios, along with other multiple assets and projects, highlighting this integrated system as a new global capital for entertainment, sports, and culture.
“Six Flags” Unique for Breaking World Records
During the conference, Al-Dawood announced that on December 31 of this year, Qiddiya will open its first entertainment asset (Six Flags), marking a distinctive qualitative addition to the entertainment sector and a transformative leap in the project’s journey.
He noted that “Six Flags” offers record-breaking enthusiasts a unique opportunity to break world records through five main rides, led by the Falcon roller coaster, which achieves an unprecedented feat by breaking three world records, being the longest, fastest, and tallest roller coaster in the world.
He affirmed that “Six Flags” in Qiddiya offers a range of entertainment experiences supported by innovative technologies being introduced for the first time in the region, enhancing the project’s status as a global destination for quality entertainment.
He indicated that this opening – God willing – marks the beginning of a series of successive openings for nearly 70 assets, which will be announced successively as part of the gradual operational pathway for Qiddiya, through the launch of new assets in a sequential manner.
Regarding the latest developments of the project, the managing director of Qiddiya Investment Company stated that the Six Flags park has been fully completed, alongside the completion of more than 95% of the Aquariba Water Park, while construction work has begun on a group of other assets, including the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium, the Performing Arts Center, the speed track, the Mercedes Performance World, golf clubs, and the area for electronic games and sports.
10,000 Visitors Daily
He pointed out that development work continues in parallel with the progress of construction on more than 20 hotels targeted for opening in the upcoming period.
Regarding infrastructure, he reported that the first phase of road, electricity, water, communications, and emergency services work has been completed, while the second phase for developing the city’s internal road network has commenced, which will exceed 100 kilometers in length upon completion, in addition to starting the implementation of electricity stations to include 13 central and subsidiary stations, as well as expanding the drinking water production system.
The managing director of Qiddiya Investment Company, in response to journalists’ questions, confirmed that Qiddiya Park is designed to accommodate approximately 10,000 daily visitors, with expectations of exceeding two million visitors during the first year of operation.
Welcoming Saudi Families
He indicated that the focus in the first phase will be on welcoming Saudi families and the local audience, alongside welcoming tourists from within and outside the Kingdom, amidst the great anticipation and excitement from the residents of Riyadh and neighboring areas, noting that the coming year will witness the opening of a new water park, which will be a qualitative addition to the experience of visitors from the Kingdom and abroad.
In terms of employment, he clarified that creating job opportunities is one of the main objectives of the Qiddiya project, noting that the first asset to be opened (Six Flags) employs more than 1,200 staff, with over 60% of them being Saudis, while about 39% of the employees come from more than 41 countries, contributing to enriching the cultural experience of the park as a global destination, affirming at the same time that the Saudi workers in the project received their training in specialized institutes inside and outside the Kingdom, under the supervision of global partners in the entertainment sector.
