كشف رئيس الوزراء الكندي مارك كارني، اليوم، أن بلاده تحترم التزاماتها بموجب اتفاقية التجارة مع الولايات المتحدة والمكسيك.
وجاء تصريح كارني رداً على تهديد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب بأن الولايات المتحدة ستفرض رسوما جمركية 100% على كندا إذا أبرمت اتفاقية تجارية مع الصين.
تعاون اقتصادي
وانتقد ترمب رئيس الوزراء الكندي مارك كارني، معتبراً أنه مخطئ بشدة في فتح بلاده الباب أمام مزيد من التعاون الاقتصادي مع بكين، بما في ذلك الاتفاق الأخير الذي يسمح بزيادة واردات المركبات الكهربائية الصينية إلى السوق الكندية.
من جهته، نفى الوزير الكندي المكلّف بالتجارة مع الولايات المتحدة سعي بلاده إلى عقد اتفاق تجارة حرّة مع الصين، لافتا إلى أن ما جرى تحقيقه هو فقط حل لعدد من القضايا المهمة المتعلقة بالتعريفات الجمركية.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney revealed today that his country respects its commitments under the trade agreement with the United States and Mexico.
Carney’s statement came in response to a threat from U.S. President Donald Trump that the United States would impose a 100% tariff on Canada if it entered into a trade agreement with China.
Economic Cooperation
Trump criticized Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, claiming he is seriously mistaken in opening his country to further economic cooperation with Beijing, including the recent agreement that allows for an increase in imports of Chinese electric vehicles to the Canadian market.
For his part, the Canadian minister responsible for trade with the United States denied that his country is seeking to establish a free trade agreement with China, noting that what has been achieved is merely a resolution to a number of important issues related to tariffs.
