اتفقت الصين والولايات المتحدة على خفض متبادل للرسوم الجمركية على سلع غير حساسة بقيمة 30 مليار دولار في كل اتجاه، ضمن تفاهمات توصل إليها البلدان خلال زيارة الرئيس الصيني شي جين بينغ إلى واشنطن ولقائه الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب.
وقال البيت الأبيض إن البلدين توصلا إلى توافق بشأن منح معاملة جمركية أكثر تفضيلاً لسلع غير حساسة بقيمة 30 مليار دولار من صادرات كل جانب إلى الآخر.
وتشمل الصادرات الأمريكية التي ستحصل على معاملة جمركية تفضيلية في الصين منتجات زراعية وأسماكاً ومأكولات بحرية ومنتجات خشبية ومستحضرات تجميل وأجهزة طبية.
وفي المقابل، تشمل الواردات الأمريكية من الصين أجهزة منزلية صغيرة وألعاباً وزينة للمناسبات ومقاعد سيارات للأطفال.
مجلس للتجارة
وجاء الاتفاق ضمن حزمة تفاهمات توصل إليها الجانبان خلال زيارة شي التي استمرت ثلاثة أيام إلى الولايات المتحدة وانتهت (الجمعة).
وأكدت وزارة الخارجية الصينية أن الجانبين أيدا نتائج المحادثات بين فريقيهما الاقتصاديين والتجاريين، بما في ذلك إنشاء وتفعيل مجلس للتجارة، والترتيبات المتعلقة بخفض الرسوم المتبادلة، إلى جانب تمديد نتائج المحادثات الاقتصادية والتجارية السابقة التي عقدت في كوالالمبور.
وكان البلدان قد اتفقا في وقت سابق على تمديد الهدنة التجارية بينهما لمدة شهرين، ما يمنحهما مزيداً من الوقت للعمل على اتفاق تجاري أوسع.
حوار حول الذكاء الاصطناعي
وتضمنت التفاهمات أيضاً إطلاق حوار رسمي بين الصين والولايات المتحدة حول الذكاء الاصطناعي لمناقشة مخاطر التقنية وفوائدها، على أن تعقد الجولة القادمة من المحادثات في نوفمبر القادم.
واتفق البلدان كذلك على إنشاء قناة اتصال ثنائية للتعامل مع الحوادث المتعلقة بالذكاء الاصطناعي.
China and the United States have agreed to a mutual reduction of tariffs on non-sensitive goods worth $30 billion in each direction, as part of understandings reached during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Washington and his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.
The White House stated that the two countries reached an agreement to grant more favorable tariff treatment for non-sensitive goods worth $30 billion from each side’s exports to the other.
The American exports that will receive preferential tariff treatment in China include agricultural products, fish and seafood, wooden products, cosmetics, and medical devices.
In return, American imports from China will include small household appliances, toys, party decorations, and child car seats.
Trade Council
The agreement came as part of a package of understandings reached by both sides during Xi’s three-day visit to the United States, which concluded on Friday.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed that both sides supported the results of the talks between their economic and trade teams, including the establishment and activation of a trade council, arrangements related to mutual tariff reductions, as well as extending the results of previous economic and trade talks held in Kuala Lumpur.
The two countries had previously agreed to extend their trade truce for two months, giving them more time to work on a broader trade agreement.
Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence
The understandings also included the launch of an official dialogue between China and the United States on artificial intelligence to discuss the risks and benefits of the technology, with the next round of talks scheduled for November.
The two countries also agreed to establish a bilateral communication channel to address incidents related to artificial intelligence.
