Citi Group has raised its forecast for Brent crude oil prices during the third quarter of 2026 to $86 per barrel, amid ongoing restrictions on Iranian supplies and a decline in oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz, alongside escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
The bank explained that its forecasts are based on the continued structural disruptions in oil flows from the region, which exert pressure on global supplies, according to Western media outlets.
For their part, analysts at ANZ Bank stated that oil markets are entering a “critical adjustment phase” that requires a decrease in demand to allow for inventory replenishment, expecting Brent crude prices to rise in the short term to $95 per barrel, to address supply shortages and the repercussions of the conflict on regional oil exports.
The divergent forecasts between the two institutions reflect the ongoing uncertainty in the oil market, with geopolitical developments and supply movements through the Strait of Hormuz remaining key factors influencing price trends in the coming period.
