The Norwegian sovereign wealth fund, valued at $2.3 trillion, has recommended reducing its allocation to government bonds in its investment portfolio to 50% from 70%, in order to mitigate risks and increase investment returns from other assets.
According to a letter sent by the management of “Norges Bank Investment Management” to the Norwegian Ministry of Finance, the adjustment aims to diversify investments towards non-government instruments with higher yields, such as U.S. corporate bonds, which will increase their share to 27.6% from 16.2%, according to “CNBC”.
The proposed plan includes reducing the share of U.S. Treasury bonds in the bond portfolio to 21.9% from 34.1%, and cutting the Eurozone share to 14.1% from 16.8%, while increasing the share of Japanese government bonds to 7.4% instead of 4.6%.
