ودّعت سورية رسمياً عهد الليرة القديمة التي كانت تحمل فئات منها صورة الرئيس السوري المخلوع بشار الأسد وصورة والده حافظ الأسد، إذ يسعى السوريون للتخلص من بقايا حكم آل الأسد الذي استمر أكثر من نصف قرن.
شروط طلب السحب
وأكد المكتب الإعلامي للمصرف أن عمليات سحب الأوراق النقدية القديمة بدأت اعتباراً من يوم 31 يوليو 2026، ولمدة خمس سنوات، وتُنفذ حصراً عبر مصرف سورية المركزي في دمشق، بوصفه المركز الوحيد المعتمد لاستقبال طلبات السحب.
وبخصوص شروط تقديم طلب السحب، قال المصرف إنه تم تحديد ألا يقل عدد الأوراق النقدية عن 100 ورقة من أي فئة، وألا تُقبل الطلبات التي تقل عن هذا العدد، بحيث إنه بعد التدقيق والموافقة تحول القيمة المستحقة إلى الحساب المصرفي المحدد بالليرة السورية الجديدة.
انتهاء مهلة الاستبدال
وكانت صورة حافظ الأسد، الذي حكم سورية من عام 1971 وحتى وفاته في عام 2000، موجودة على الورقة النقدية التي تصل قيمتها إلى 1,000 ليرة، ولكن مع تدهور قيمة العملة صدرت ورقة أخرى بقيمة 2,000 ليرة تحمل صورة بشار الأسد الذي حكم سورية منذ عام 2000 وحتى ديسمبر 2024..
وانتهت مهلة استبدال الليرة السورية يوم 30 يوليو الماضي، بعد بدايتها مطلع يناير 2026، إذ أعلن مصرف سورية المركزي فقدان الأوراق النقدية القديمة لقوتها الإبرائية، وعدم صلاحيتها قانوناً للتداول أو لإجراء أي معاملات مالية.
Syria has officially bid farewell to the era of the old lira, which featured images of the ousted Syrian president Bashar al-Assad and his father Hafez al-Assad, as Syrians seek to rid themselves of the remnants of the Assad family’s rule that lasted for more than half a century.
Withdrawal Request Conditions
The media office of the bank confirmed that the withdrawal of old banknotes began on July 31, 2026, and will last for five years, and it is carried out exclusively through the Central Bank of Syria in Damascus, as it is the only authorized center to receive withdrawal requests.
Regarding the conditions for submitting a withdrawal request, the bank stated that the number of banknotes must not be less than 100 notes of any denomination, and requests that are less than this number will not be accepted, so that after verification and approval, the due amount is transferred to the specified bank account in the new Syrian lira.
End of the Exchange Period
The image of Hafez al-Assad, who ruled Syria from 1971 until his death in 2000, was present on the banknote worth 1,000 lira, but with the devaluation of the currency, another note worth 2,000 lira was issued featuring the image of Bashar al-Assad, who has ruled Syria since 2000 until December 2024.
The period for exchanging the Syrian lira ended on July 30, after starting in early January 2026, as the Central Bank of Syria announced the loss of the old banknotes of their legal tender status, rendering them invalid for circulation or for conducting any financial transactions.
