Finance Minister Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan confirmed that Saudi Arabia is confidently and ambitiously moving towards building a deeper and more competitive financial sector that aligns with the development of the national economy, empowers the private sector, and attracts global capital.
During his opening speech at the second edition of the “Money 20/20 Middle East” conference in Riyadh, he stated: “The strength of the financial sector in today’s world is not measured solely by its size or growth rate, but by its high ability to adapt and sustain amidst rapid geopolitical and economic transformations.”
Positive Indicators
The minister reviewed the positive indicators for the sector during the second quarter of this year, praising the robustness of the banking sector, the growth of financial market institutions, the insurance sector, and financial technology, many of which have exceeded the targets of the Financial Sector Development Program.
He pointed out that successful future systems will be those that balance innovation and flexibility, openness and reliability, and the speed of adopting technology without compromising financial stability.
The Third Phase of “Vision 2030”
The Finance Minister announced that Saudi Vision 2030 is entering its third phase today under the slogan “Phase of Maximizing Impact,” where the focus shifts to ensuring the sustainability of economic transformation, directing capital towards new opportunities, and enhancing the private sector’s capacity to compete and grow.
Al-Jadaan highlighted the recent Cabinet decision to enable regional headquarters of licensed financial institutions to conduct cross-border financial activities.
He affirmed that this decision represents a strategic step to enhance the competitiveness of the financial environment in the Kingdom, expand the scope of business managed from it, and solidify Riyadh’s presence as a regional hub for global financial institutions.
