وأعد البحث Yingzi Zhang وChongwei Bi وSeba Nadeef وSateesh Maddirevula وMashael Alqahtani وFowzan S. Alkuraya وMo Li.

وحصل على المركز الثاني بحث الدكتورة Dania Awata وفريقها من جامعة حمد بن خليفة القطرية بعنوان «Mapping the circular RNA landscape in breast cancer highlights its diagnostic and therapeutic potential in Triple Negative Cancer»، والذي تناول دور الحمض النووي الريبي الدائري في سرطان الثدي الثلاثي السلبي، وكشف عن مؤشرات جزيئية واعدة يمكن أن تسهم مستقبلاً في التشخيص وتطوير أهداف علاجية جديدة.

أما المركز الثالث فكان من نصيب بحث من جامعة الملك عبدالعزيز بجدة بعنوان «Targeted Molecular Characterization and In Silico Functional Assessment of TP53 Variants in Saudi Patients with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma»، وأعده فريق بحثي ضم عبدالله الرحماني وصابرين بخاري وأسماء العطاس ورؤى قدم وصفاء الدهلوي وPeter Natesan Pushparaj ودعاء القعيدي وعائشة العليمي وهبة الخطابي، وتناول التغيرات الجينية في جين TP53 لدى مرضى سرطان الغدد الليمفاوية المنتشر كبير الخلايا البائية، وأهميتها المحتملة في فهم الخصائص الجزيئية للمرض.

The International Conference on Genetic and Genomic Medicine SSMG 2026 concluded its activities last (Thursday) evening in Jeddah by honoring the winners of the best three posters and scientific research, in recognition of research excellence and scientific contributions in the field of genetic and genomic medicine.

First place went to the research team from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) for their nanotechnology study titled “NanoRangerTM Enables Rapid Single-Base-Pair Resolution of Genomic Disorders,” which presented an advanced technique based on long-read sequencing to accurately identify complex genetic changes, contributing to improved genetic diagnosis and the development of more precise tests for detecting carriers of genetic diseases. The research was prepared by Yingzi Zhang, Chongwei Bi, Seba Nadeef, Sateesh Maddirevula, Mashael Alqahtani, Fowzan S. Alkuraya, and Mo Li.

Second place was awarded to Dr. Dania Awata and her team from Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Qatar for their research titled “Mapping the circular RNA landscape in breast cancer highlights its diagnostic and therapeutic potential in Triple Negative Cancer,” which addressed the role of circular RNA in triple-negative breast cancer and revealed promising molecular indicators that could contribute to future diagnostics and the development of new therapeutic targets.

Third place went to research from King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah titled “Targeted Molecular Characterization and In Silico Functional Assessment of TP53 Variants in Saudi Patients with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma,” prepared by a research team that included Abdullah Alrahmani, Sabeen Bukhari, Asma Alattas, Roaa Qaddah, Safaa Al-Dahlawi, Peter Natesan Pushparaj, Dua Alqaidi, Aisha Al-Aleemi, and Hiba Al-Khatabi. This research focused on genetic changes in the TP53 gene among patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and their potential importance in understanding the molecular characteristics of the disease.

The President of the Saudi Society for Genetic Medicine, Consultant Alia Qari, and the Conference President, Dr. Khalid Al-Wosiah, presented certificates of appreciation to the winners at the conclusion of the conference, which featured a diverse scientific program over two days with the participation of a select group of specialists and researchers in genetic and genomic medicine.

Additionally, Dr. Salah Baz, Director of King Faisal Specialist Hospital in Jeddah, sponsored the opening of the conference last (Wednesday) afternoon in Jeddah.
