لم تتمالك الفنانة السورية منى واصف دموعها خلال تكريمها في ختام الدورة الأولى من مهرجان حمص السينمائي للأفلام القصيرة، ودخلت في نوبة بكاء وهي تستعيد أمام الحضور ذكريات طفولتها وعلاقتها بسورية، في لحظة إنسانية لافتة تخللها حديث مؤثر عن الوطن والعائلة.

As she shifted her talk to Syria and her family, the Syrian artist became increasingly emotional and broke down in tears in front of the audience, before delivering a short message that encapsulated her feelings towards her homeland, saying: “This homeland must remain.”

Wasef continued her discussion about her family roots, saying: “And my mother is Christian,” in the context of recalling the diversity she experienced since her childhood, pointing out that her relationship with Syria is connected to its various regions and components, not just one city.
She also spoke about her years working in the national theater and the artistic tours that took her to several Syrian provinces and cities, considering those trips an important part of her experience and giving her the opportunity to get to know the Syrian society and its diversity up close.
