واستهل العدد المعنون بـ«الترجمة والذكاء الاصطناعي: مهارة المترجم وتطور الآلة»، المتزامن مع عام الذكاء الاصطناعي، بمقالة لإحدى الشركات المتخصصة في الذكاء الاصطناعي بعنوان (سيادة المعرفة تبدأ من سيادة اللغة)، مؤكدةً أهمية اللغة بوصفها أساسًا لصناعة المعرفة ونقلها، ودورها المحوري في بناء مستقبل الذكاء الاصطناعي وتطوير تطبيقاته.

The eighth issue of the quarterly magazine “SATA,” published by the Translation Association under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, sheds light on the rapid transformations witnessed in the translation sector in light of the growing development of artificial intelligence technologies, reviewing their impact on the profession of translation and its future.
The issue, titled “Translation and Artificial Intelligence: The Translator’s Skill and Machine Development,” coinciding with the Year of Artificial Intelligence, begins with an article from a company specialized in artificial intelligence titled (The Sovereignty of Knowledge Begins with the Sovereignty of Language), emphasizing the importance of language as a foundation for the production and transmission of knowledge, and its pivotal role in building the future of artificial intelligence and developing its applications.
The issue provides a comprehensive reading of the evolving relationship between artificial intelligence and translation; as a relationship that does not stop at the limits of technical tools, but extends to deeper questions related to language, meaning, decision-making, and the role of humans in the production of understanding and the transmission of knowledge. It starts from the national scene and the increasing interest in artificial intelligence, reviewing the position of the translator in this transformation and the new opportunities and professional and cognitive challenges it offers.
The issue addresses the reality of translation in the age of artificial intelligence; by reviewing the transformations that are reshaping translation studies and applications, including linguistic data analysis, eye-tracking technologies, legal translation, audiovisual translation, and poetry translation, and discusses the questions these fields raise about machine accuracy, contextual sensitivity, the limits of human creativity, and the translator’s role in maintaining content quality and meaning.
The topics of the issue align with what the editor-in-chief, Abdulrahman Al-Sayed, emphasized regarding the necessity of viewing artificial intelligence as an empowering force that supports the translator and expands their capabilities, while also highlighting the importance of maintaining critical awareness, professional knowledge, and the ability to make responsible linguistic and cultural decisions, ensuring the use of technology to serve humanity and knowledge.
The issue highlights several initiatives, partnerships, and professional experiences that reflect the vitality and development of the translation sector, including international partnerships, the association’s presence in universities and academic institutions, and its role in building bridges of communication between translators, researchers, and institutions, enhancing the status of translation in keeping pace with rapid technological and cultural transformations.
The materials of the issue were chosen as a contribution to enriching the dialogue about the future of translation in the age of artificial intelligence, deepening awareness of the pivotal role of the translator as a cognitive and cultural partner whose role extends to understanding, interpretation, review, and preserving human meaning in a world where algorithms are accelerating, and the need for human expertise and linguistic and cultural awareness is increasing.
