الرواية السعودية.. تنوع وإرث وثراء
أن تتذوق الفن شيئًا، وأن تتنقل بين العصور عبر حضارة وأرض حملت تراثًا وقصصًا كُتبت بأنامل أبنائها فذلك شيء آخر. تمثّل الرواية السعودية عنوانًا عريضًا نستحضر من خلاله صور المجتمع وخصائصه التي ميّزته، إذ عمل بعضها مؤرخًا لمراحل تاريخية ومحطات لا تُنسى، بينما اتجه بعضها الآخر إلى مناقشة القضايا الفكرية والاجتماعية والصراعات الإنسانية، في حين شق جيل جديد طريقه إلى عوالم الفانتازيا والتشويق. وبين هذا وذاك، صُنع هذا الزخم والتنوع في الأدب السعودي، مما جعله قادرًا على التعبير عن الهوية بمختلف أبعادها.
انطلاق الرواية إلى شاشات السينما
تمضي الرواية السعودية اليوم بخطى ثابتة نحو إنتاج محلي يواصل إرث أجيال من الروائيين السعوديين، ومنهم عبده خال وليلى الجهني، ويضيف إليه، ليرسم معًا لوحة كبرى ممزوجة بالحداثة والأصالة. ومع ما تشهده المملكة من دعم ثقافي في إطار رؤية 2030، وعبر مبادرات ثقافية بحجم الوطن، تنطلق اليوم حكاية مجد تُبنى بسواعد أبنائها.
وكان آخرها مبادرة جمعية الأدب المهنية لتحويل الرواية السعودية إلى سيناريو سينمائي، التي اختارت في مرحلتها النهائية ثلاث روايات هي: «ابنة ليليث» للكاتب أحمد السماري، و«وجوه الحوش» للكاتب حسين علي حسين، و«الحفائر حفرة الجبل» للكاتب خالد النمازي. وتمثل هذه الخطوة اتجاهًا واعدًا نحو ترسيخ الهوية السعودية عبر صالات العرض السينمائية العالمية، استنادًا إلى إرثها الأدبي والثقافي.
التجربة تولّد الثقة وتصنع النجاح
قد يتخوف البعض من عدم جاهزية التجربة السينمائية المقتبسة من الرواية السعودية، متناسين أن كثيرًا من الأعمال الأدبية العالمية ما كانت لتحظى بانتشارها الواسع لولا انتقالها من صفحات الكتب إلى شخصيات حقيقية وصور بصرية خالدة. إن نجاح التجربة من عدمها يعتمد على ثقة أبناء الوطن بإرثهم الأدبي، وإيمانهم بجيل شاب قادر على مخاطبة لغة العصر دون أن يتخلى عن هويته الثقافية. فلطالما كانت السينما مرآة العصور ولغة الشعوب، وأحد أهم الوسائل التي تحفظ ذاكرة الحضارات وتنقلها إلى العالم.
من المحلية إلى العالمية
ماذا لو اقتربت الصورة أكثر، فتحوّلت الكلمات من حبر على الورق إلى مشاهد نابضة بالحياة، تحاكي لغة العصر وتنافس بقوة على شباك التذاكر، وربما تجد مكانها على السجادة الحمراء في المحافل السينمائية العالمية؟ حينها سيحلّق الأدب السعودي على أجنحة السينما، لينتقل من المحلية إلى العالمية.
وليس ذلك ببعيد، فالأدب السعودي عُرف بثرائه وصوره غير النمطية التي تجسّد جمال الصحراء، وقوة الإنسان، وعنفوان المرأة، منذ الأزل وصولاً إلى يومنا هذا. كما قدم الجيل الجديد من الكتّاب والشباب والنساء نماذج تؤكد أن التطور واستخدام الوسائل الحديثة لا يتعارضان مع الحفاظ على أصالة التراث وعراقته.
هوية، وتراث، وثقافة، ودعم، وجيل جديد من المبدعين؛ كلها عوامل اجتمعت لتصنع مشهدًا ثقافيًا جديدًا. وما كان بالأمس مستحيلاً، أصبح اليوم مشروعًا واقعيًا، تنتقل فيه الرواية السعودية من صفحات الكتب إلى شاشات السينما، لتثبت أن الأدب السعودي لا يروي حكايات المجتمع فحسب، بل يمتلك من المقوّمات ما يؤهله للوصول إلى العالم بلغته الخاصة وهويته الأصيلة.

To savor art is one thing, and to traverse through the ages via a civilization and land that has carried a heritage and stories written by the hands of its children is something else entirely. The Saudi novel represents a broad title through which we evoke images of society and its characteristics that distinguish it, with some serving as historians of unforgettable historical phases and milestones, while others have turned to discussing intellectual and social issues and human conflicts, as a new generation carves its path into the realms of fantasy and thrill. Between this and that, this momentum and diversity in Saudi literature has been created, making it capable of expressing identity in all its dimensions.
The Novel’s Leap to Cinema Screens
Today, the Saudi novel is steadily progressing towards local production that continues the legacy of generations of Saudi novelists, including Abdu Khal and Leila Al-Juhani, while adding to it, together painting a grand picture blended with modernity and authenticity. With the cultural support the Kingdom is witnessing within the framework of Vision 2030, and through national-scale cultural initiatives, the story of glory is now being built by the hands of its children.
The latest of these is the initiative by the Professional Literature Association to transform the Saudi novel into a cinematic script, which in its final phase selected three novels: “Daughter of Lilith” by Ahmed Al-Samari, “Faces of the Courtyard” by Hussein Ali Hussein, and “The Pits of the Mountain” by Khalid Al-Namazi. This step represents a promising direction towards cementing Saudi identity through global cinema screens, based on its literary and cultural heritage.
Experience Generates Confidence and Creates Success
Some may fear the lack of readiness of the cinematic experience adapted from the Saudi novel, forgetting that many global literary works would not have achieved their wide popularity without transitioning from the pages of books to real characters and immortal visual images. The success of the experience depends on the confidence of the nation’s children in their literary heritage and their belief in a young generation capable of addressing the language of the age without abandoning its cultural identity. Cinema has always been a mirror of the ages and a language of peoples, and one of the most important means of preserving the memory of civilizations and conveying it to the world.
From Local to Global
What if the image came closer, transforming words from ink on paper to vibrant scenes that echo the language of the age and compete vigorously at the box office, perhaps even finding their place on the red carpet at global cinematic events? At that point, Saudi literature will soar on the wings of cinema, transitioning from local to global.
This is not far-fetched, as Saudi literature is known for its richness and non-stereotypical images that embody the beauty of the desert, the strength of man, and the vigor of woman, from ancient times to the present day. The new generation of writers, youth, and women has presented models that affirm that development and the use of modern means do not contradict preserving the authenticity and depth of heritage.
Identity, heritage, culture, support, and a new generation of creators; all these factors have come together to create a new cultural scene. What was impossible yesterday has become a realistic project today, where the Saudi novel transitions from the pages of books to cinema screens, proving that Saudi literature not only tells the stories of society but also possesses the qualities that qualify it to reach the world in its own language and authentic identity.
